Vendor Spotlight: Monica Brown Photography

Monica Brown Photography puts so much passion and love behind every single photo that is taken!

Monica Brown Photography is a husband-and-wife photography team that is based out of Indianapolis, Indiana, but specializes in destination weddings! Monica Brown is a mom to two adorable little girls, Nora Sue and Ava Mae, and is married to her college sweetheart from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio! Fun fact: They met during the very first week of college, and have been together for almost seven years now! 

Monica LOVES to travel – she’s been to twenty one different countries and five different continents! She’s enjoyed exploring places like Thailand, Switzerland, France, and Argentina. Next to that, she enjoys even more trying authentic foods from all of the places she goes. Monica is a major foodie, and enjoys getting to try different foods from different cultures! On top of it all, Monica has a very special place in her heart for her faith. Her faith has been a huge part of her for her whole life, and she loves praying for her couples throughout their wedding planning process!

From a young age, Monica has always had a love and passion for pictures. When she was a sophomore in high school, her mom unfortunately passed away, and photography was a huge outlet for her throughout that process. She started second shooting weddings in high school, and then ended up working full-time doing media and marketing for a small business with photography as a side hustle. This very quickly turned into photography taking over, and in 2018, she went full time with photography! 

Monica loves what she does, and is incredibly passionate about being able to use photography as a creative outlet! She actually does workshops as well that are hosted specifically for photographers to learn things like shooting techniques, posing, behind-the-scenes, and more. Monica also provides one-on-one mentor sessions for people interested in that as well. She explained how she had many photographers that were significant to her development and growth in her craft, and she wanted to give back!

“This is a fun and easy way to pay it forward to help others get creative and confident in their abilities!”

When the wedding day rolls around, Monica looks forward to so many different aspects of it! Some of her favorites being the first looks and sunset portraits! She explains how the first looks are, “always so special and so sweet”, and that they’re very fun to photograph. With the sunset portraits, she says that the lighting is always gorgeous, and it all feels more natural with less pressure! 

Monica also explains how one of, if not the most, important part of the day for her, is making sure that she’s doing everything that she can for their day. Monica always makes sure that she’s standing up for her couples’ values and visions for their day, and tries to be very intentional with taking away different pressure points and things that might feel stressful. 

“I love getting to very intimately serve my couples – be their advocate and make them feel beautiful and special!”

Monica does an incredible job capturing some of the best moments that you have during your wedding day and knows there are many moments that you want to be able to hold onto forever. Your big day is one that you will remember for the rest of your life! Monica explains: “Still investing in yourselves as individuals and yourselves as a couple throughout the process is super important”. She emphasizes that although the day itself is very important, the engagement process is equally as important because you’re planning for your marriage! Monica mentioned that doing things like being intentional and going on dates throughout the process where you don’t talk about anything wedding to just enjoy your time as a couple is truly beneficial!

Monica’s final piece of advice: Work with a wedding planner: “It really does make such a big difference in the day!”
